Trond Husebø - conductor

Trond Husebø (b.1979), violaplayer and conductor, is a new and exciting name on the Norwegian music scene. After studying viola with Morten Carlsen and Lars Anders Tomter at the Norwegian State Academy of Music, he took his diploma in orchestral-conducting with Prof. Ole Kristian Ruud at the same institution, and now belongs to the new generation of young Norwegian conductors setting their mark both on the national and international musicstage. He has continued his studies after graduating, and have participated in masterclasses with amongst others Jorma Panula, Bernhard Haitink and Neeme Järvi.

From 2009 to 2011 Husebø held the position as assistant conductor in Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, and has in addition to assisting their chief conductor, Mr Andrew Litton, also conducted numerous performances with the orchestra, including a concert in april 2010 where he stepped in on very short notice to conduct the Norwegian premiere of Gubaidulina percussionconcerto and Brahms 1st symphony. During his tenure he also assisted the principal guest conductor, Juanjo Mena, and will continue his collaboration with Mena as his assistant on chosen projects in Menas own orchestra, the BBC Philharmonic.

In addition to Bergen Philharmonic, Husebø's recent engagements include the Gothenburg Symphonyorchestra, The Norwegian Radio Symphony Orchestra, Trondheim Symphony Orchestra, The Norwegian Youth Orchestra, Trondheim Sinfonietta and most Norwegian military wind bands. He has also made several recordings of norwegian filmmusic with Prague Film Orchestra. Future engagements include appearences with Norrköping Symphonyorchestra (S) and Aarhus Symphonyorchestra (DK)

In addition to his conducting career, Husebø maintains a career as a violaplayer, and plays regurlarly in several of the Norwegian orchestras and chamber ensembles
